Raptor GFX TV



    1. What does the Raptor GFX TV card provide?

    The Raptor GFX TV card is a single slot PCI card that provides “Video in a Window” on your Sun Microsystems desktops and servers. The Raptor GFX TV application provides an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) that seamlessly integrates into the X Window environment.


    2. What Operating Systems are supported by the Raptor GFX TV?

    The GFX TV is currently supported on Solaris 6, 7, and 8.


    3. What hardware platforms are supported by the Raptor GFX TV?

    The GFX TV is currently supported on all Sun Ultra Workstations and Enterprise Servers including the Ultra 5, 10, 60, 80, Sunblade 100, 150, 1000, 2000; the E250, E280R, E2500, E3000, E450 and E4500 servers.


    4. What graphics cards will the Raptor GFX TV work with?

    The GFX TV card will work the GFX 8P, GFX 32C, GFX 220, GFX 240 and GFX 450. The graphics card must be placed in either 8+24 or 24 bit only mode in order for the GFX TV card to work.


    5. What is the maximum window size that the Raptor GFX TV application can run in?

    The Raptor TV application runs in a window that can be maximized to 640 × 480. The graphics card can be set to any resolution that you choose.


    6. How many cards can I place in a single system?

    Only one GFX TV card should be installed in a Sun PCI system.

    In systems such as the E450 that have multiple PCI buses, the GFX TV will only work if the TV card and the video card are installed on the same bus.


    7. Will the Raptor GFX TV work in my PC running windows or Linux?

    No, the GFX TV card was designed specifically for Sun/Sparc systems running Solaris.


    8. When Runnig the Raptor TV application I get: “RaptorTV:fatal:libXRapTV.so.1:open   failed: No Such file or directory

    To solve the above error you must add: /usr/openwin/lib to the setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH in your .cshrc file.


    9. Can the Raptor GFX TV card be used to caputre video?

    No, the GFX TV card does not have video capture capability. The card is designed to allow a video feed to be displayed in a window on your system.
